Cold pressing the method we use to extract our CBD oil from our hemp plants.
But why is it so important to us?
We pride ourselves on the natural approach we take with everything we do. And our oil is no exception. That’s why our in-house cold pressing technique has been carefully tailored to suit our hemp crop, to make sure only the highest possible quality of oil goes into each and every one of our products.
This allows us to produce our oils and powders without excess heat, without chemicals and without additives to preserve the delicate balance of omegas, terpenes, cannabinoids and other compounds that make up our full spectrum range of products.
How does it work?
Cold pressing has developed over time and today uses large machinery to grind the plant to squeeze out the oil.
The cold pressed method takes its name from the German words kalt geschlagen. This translates as ‘cold pummeling’ and is believed to refer to the intensive pressure that the seeds and fruit are placed under.
As no external heat is required to fuel the process, the friction that is created by rotating the paste mixture will generate heat internally. This rotation works to separate the oil from the juice and pulp.
Cold pressing vs heat extraction
When it comes to pressing the oil, cold pressing is much better because the process retains more of the oil’s natural properties such as purity, flavour, fragrance and nutritional value.
Although introducing a heat source to help press the oil will yield a greater quantity, the quality of the oil pressed in this way is compromised as the heat can damage the precious constituents of the plant.
It’s a case of quality vs quantity when it comes to hemp seed oil. And we believe in quality.
